Fountain Civil Engineering (Pty) Ltd., is a civil engineering construction company specialising in heavy construction and quarrying. Founded in 1994 by Mr. Ted Fountain, FCE has established itself as one of the leading contractors in the Kwa-Zulu Natal region and have recently established an office in the Gauteng area. Registered with the South African Federation of Civil Engineering Contractors (SAFCEC) and graded as a CIDB Grade 8CE contractor, qualifying them to tender on contracts up to R130m in value. Fountain Civil Engineering is a level 4 BBBEE contributor and in July 2004 became a leader in the industry in terms of black economic empowerment with the sale of 30% of the shares to their Marketing Director, Dumisa Dlatu.

Earthworks & Roads



Over the past 15 years, FCE has assembled a first class roads and earthworks team, securing the services of some of the best personnel in the industry. Our extensive experience includes all aspects of earthworks, layer works, surfacing and appurtenant work.



Infrastructure
FCE has been involved in numerous infrastructure and township projects, and as such, our personnel are well established to the challenges there multifaceted projects bring. Furthermore, in impoverished areas like these, our company policy is to ensure a transfer of skills and to not only finish the task at hand, but to leave the community in a far better position than it had originally been.

Pipelines

FCE has completed numerous pipeline projects and gained vast knowledge in the operation and installation of a wide range of products now used in reticulation projects, rehabilitation of existing reticulation systems, bulk township and domestic services. Some of our more interesting and challenging projects have included both underwater outfalls and 30m high suspended drainage and pressure pipelines.

Concrete and other

The FCE team has worked on numerous projects involving concrete structures such as reservoirs, pump stations and dissipation and siphon chambers (requiring dewatering to 4m below sea-level).

Furthermore, we have extensive experience in the construction of earthworks retaining systems.

Quarries & Materials Handling

FCE has recently extended its portfolio to include material handling operations in various aggregate quarries. Due to this, we have acquired an enviable fleet of plant to effectively manage all of our clients’ requirements.

We are particularly proud of our contributions to a major South African aggregate producer for the supply of more than 500 000 tonnes of specially graded rock to the Durban Harbour widening contract.• Landfill Gas Extraction Aligned with global requirements to reduce CO² and methane emissions, FCE has become actively involved in the construction of landfill gas extraction projects in which these harmful emissions are converted to electricity. Thus, with our partners in this field, we are able to offer a full package from gas well construction through to flare installation and subsequent power generation.

Landfill Sites

In accordance with world policies, FCE is dedicated to creating a better environment, and as such we have built an enviable track record in the specialised field of landfill construction. Whether it be new landfill sites or the closure and rehabilitation of existing ones, our aim is to effectively prevent the ingress of contaminants from our everyday waste into our environment through the use of GCL, CCL and HDPE liners. Due to this, we have become the foremost landfill specialists in KZN.
