29 OCTOBER 2009
MTN, like many other large corporates, receives a large number of enquiries on a daily basis from companies seeking to do business with MTN. These range from smaller startup businesses, to larger established companies – yet they all are faced with the same challenge: how to effectively reach the procurement department and ensure that their voice is heard.
MTN has thus launched a web portal which can be accessed from www.mtn.co.za, under Procurement Services, which allows prospective vendors to register online. With this self-service registration process, prospective vendors can complete a simple registration form and submit it for verification and vetting. For applicants, this reduces the time and money spent on making calls to the procurement department to check if their application has been received. The new Portal also allows prospective vendors to register as a vendor as well as manage and update their vendor profiles
Says Janine Hansby, General Manager: Procurement Services, for MTN SA: “The key objective for setting up this portal is to allow MTN the opportunity to broaden its current base of suppliers and to allow for good benchmarking opportunities amongst a range of suppliers, thereby giving more companies the opportunity to tender for the MTN business. It also enables us to manage the administration of applications of more efficiently. Vendors benefit in that they are now able to have a one stop shop to register with MTN.”
